What Are the Benefits of Eating Salad Every Day?

0 commentaires
A salad platter.
Eating a salad every day offers numerous health benefits. It is one of the simplest and healthiest food habits that anyone can commit to. Salads are easy to make and they bring us a few steps closer to our recommended daily serving of fruit and vegetables. Simply add some of your favorite fat free or reduced fat dressing and experience some of the following health benefits.

One health benefit of consuming salad is an increase in fiber intake. Salads provide the body with a lot of fiber which in turn means lower cholesterol and less constipation. Furthermore, when you eat these green wonders, you feel fuller, eat less and lose weight. Since salads are very filling, eating one prior to your main course will reduce the number of calories you end up consuming. By the time you get to the main course you will feel full and satisfied. This in turn will result in fewer calorie intake and loss of weight.

Many studies have shown that many Americans don't get the recommended serving of fruit and vegetables. And eating a salad daily can bring you a few steps closer to that goal. Vegetables and fruit are rich with many nutrients which contribute to our overall health. Furthermore, green veggies provide our bodies with high levels of antioxidants which lower our chances of developing many illnesses, such as cancer. So eating five servings of vegetables per day is not just a random saying that some person cooked up in his head, it is a recommendation towards a healthy lifestyle. Also by consuming salad we increase our intake of good fat. When we incorporate olive oil, avocado, or nuts into our salad we help our body with the absorption of protective phytochemicals. With all of these health benefits, why wouldn't you add a salad to your daily menu?

Secrets Revealed - How I Lost Weight During Menopause

0 commentaires

If you are fighting with weight gain issues because you are going through menopause, I have good news for you. It is possible to lose weight during menopause. For the past 6 months, I have lost 30 pounds, and I will share with you how I did it and some of my secrets.
At the onset of menopause, and during that period, women put on weight easier because of hormonal imbalance. 3 specific hormones are the culprits: estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. I will discuss briefly how they contribute to our gaining weight.
These hormones regulate our appetite, metabolism and how we store fat. A decline in the levels of these hormones makes it very difficult for a woman to avoid weight gain.
The first hormone levels to decrease are estrogen. Progesterone levels also decrease, and the body retains water and we feel bloated.
Our ovaries stop, little by little to produce estrogen and we end up not having our periods anymore. It took me a year of a lot of spotting phases until menstruation stopped altogether. Because of that fact, the body has to look for another source of estrogen which are our fat cells. So our body converts more calories into fat in order to find more estrogen. This leads to weight gain particularly belly fat.
The reason for the belly fat is also because some women become also more insulin resistant. Particularly, if you have a high carbohydrate diet, particularly heavy with processed and refined foods which may make your body resistant to the insulin released in the blood stream.
I saw my stomach grow and grow until I looked permanently pregnant! But it was not specifically, I found later because I was in menopause, it was because I loved eating Italian bread, pasta and rice. I'm not even Italian!!! As soon as I replaced those foods with more salads and fruits, I lost 30 pounds in 4 months.
By accident, I found out that a particular health supplement was very useful. I took a high quality Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplement and discovered that it eliminated my craving for food. I had the sensation of being full most of the day.
The last secret I discovered was by making my salad with at least 8 ingredients (with small pieces of shredded salad, green peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes and regular sliced

The last secret I discovered was by making my salad with at least 8 ingredients (with small pieces of shredded salad, green peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes and regular sliced tomatoes, hard boil eggs sliced, a little shredded yellow cheese and a little bacon bits coated with Italian dressing. This salad is so fresh and delicious that I was eating eat twice a day, 4 days a week. The key is to cut all the ingredients in small pieces and not put too much, rich salad dressing. It made me full and satiated.

How I Lost Weight Using Granola Bars, Full Meals and Lots of Water

0 commentaires

More than 1.9 billion people worldwide were overweight in 2010, a 25 percent increase since 2002. Also, the United States (Mexico is not far behind) leads all industrialized countries, 78.6 percent of their adult population is overweight.
I want to share my simple/straightforward on-going experience with you regarding this most important issue. In 2010 I was one of those people who were overweight. Due to the worldwide financial crisis (still affecting many of us) it was difficult to have access to popular/recognized diet-weight loss programs; we could not afford them.
Solution: Due to their very affordable prices/healthy nutrition ingredients (whole grain being the main factor) we decided to use "Nature Valley Granola Bars" to lose weight/keep it off. The ones we used were mainly the "Oats 'N Honey" package.
Why did we choose Nature Valley Oats 'N Honey Crunchy Granola Bars: The first thing I noticed on the packaging of these granola bars was the "100% Natural" banner. Nature Valley Oats 'N Honey Crunchy Granola Bars (NVGB) are made from whole grains and give you an excellent source of fiber. It has a fresh and natural taste to it with a hint of sweetness from the honey. This particular granola bar is the official natural energy bar of the Professional Golf Association Tour (PGA).
Each package contains two bars which total 1.5 oz. and contain 190 calories. I've been very satisfied with these bars and love the nutrition provided; they contain 16 g of whole grain per serving; at least 48 g are recommended daily. The whole grain ingredients really fill you up and hold you until the next meal.
Plan: Our goal with our personal own weight loss program (this had to be done in a simple/natural/healthy way) was to:
  • Structure a daily diet of average 1,500 calories; most people will lose weight eating these many calories.
  • Use a daily combination of NVGB/full meal(s) while drinking lots of water (no hidden secret formulas/E-books/programs, etc.).
  • Lose a healthy 1 to 2 pounds per week; cut 500 to 1000 calories/day.
Results: YES, we did it/feel great and have kept the weight off for 2 years using NVGB!; our glucose (sugar) and lipid panel (cholesterol/triglycerides/VLDL and LDL) levels are well within recommended parameters (based on December 2012 laboratory results).
With so many people (adults/children) overweight/obese around the world today we developed an affordable/easy way for all of us to deal with this most important health issue. To learn how I did it (real facts/figures/results)/how things are going with my weight/health please go to our simple 1 page web site; hopefully some of you will thank me later on.
Take care/stay healthy
